Sounds Right is now a global music initiative to recognise the value of nature and support millions of fans to take action on the biodiversity crisis. After an exciting debut year for NATURE, we’re now able to offer a simple way for you to share streaming royalties with NATURE, thereby helping fund her own protection and restoration. Sounds Right is a global music initiative to recognise the value of nature and inspire millions of fans to take environmental action. By streaming a track where NATURE is an artist, fans direct royalties to high-impact conservation projects in the world’s most precious and threatened ecosystems.
This is being done because the world’s biodiversity is in crisis. Wildlife populations have declined by an average of 69% in the past 50 years, and over 1.2 million species are at risk of extinction. The root cause? Our economic systems don’t value nature. Sounds Right brings nature into the economy — starting with the music we love.

This platform makes it possible for any artist to release a track with NATURE as a featured artist — celebrating nature’s artistry in your work while enabling your listeners to make a tangible impact for the planet. For the first time, NATURE can earn royalties from music, and artists like you can help make that happen.
The Sounds Right Fund, hosted by EarthPercent, channels royalties from Sounds Right releases into Indigenous and community-led projects that deliver measurable biodiversity conservation and nature restoration impact as well as community benefits. Sounds Right focuses on proven ecological models in biodiversity hotspots, which cover just 2.5% of land but hold about half of the world’s biodiversity. The fund is overseen by an independent Expert Advisory Panel of conservation practitioners, scientists, an Indigenous leader, and a conservation fund manager. Past projects include initiatives in the Tropical Andes protecting 4,550 ha of habitat and benefiting over 6,000 people directly and indirectly. In 2025, Sounds Right will support projects in the Amazon and Congo Basin region.
Suitable feat. NATURE releases are delivered worldwide to Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon, Deezer, YouTube Music, and all major digital streaming platforms (DSPs).
Releases are also delivered to major Content ID and social monetization platforms including YouTube, Meta and TIkTok so your music can be identified, tracked, and monetized whenever it’s used in videos across those networks.
There’s no upfront cost. Streaming royalties from your feat. NATURE track(s) are split:
- 50% to NATURE
- 50% to you
NATURE’s share goes into the Sounds Right Fund, hosted by EarthPercent (a registered charity in the US & UK, co-founded by Brian Eno). In 2025, 90% of those funds will go directly to Indigenous- and community-led conservation projects in the Congo Basin region and Amazon, with 10% used to promote NATURE’s music and run programmes like this.
Our delivery partner DistroDirect deducts a 5% admin fee from royalties before the split.
Yes — you retain 100% ownership of your music.
Sounds Right exists to give NATURE proper credit and royalties for her sounds — from the rustle of leaves to the crash of waves. By creatively featuring natural sounds in your track, you’re not just adding texture and atmosphere, you’re also making NATURE an active, credited artist on your release. These sounds can be recorded yourself or sourced from copyright-free libraries, making it easy to integrate them in a way that feels authentic to your music. Please note that all submissions must feature authentic, naturally recorded sounds — not sounds generated or synthesized through computers or AI.
Exclusive visual templates have been developed for artists using the feat. NATURE platform, to clearly signal participation in the programme. Using them is optional but provides an easy way to align each project with the broader movement and make it instantly recognizable to listeners. You can see examples here.
Some releases will be selected for amplification. Tagging @NATURE_theartist helps ensure your work is seen and may lead to your track being reposted, featured, or highlighted across Sounds Right and NATURE’s social channels.

There is no submission process for applying for further support, however if a submitted track fits with an upcoming campaign or opportunity, the Sounds Right team may reach out directly.
Exclusivity only applies to the feat. NATURE track(s) you choose to upload to the Sounds Right platform - none of your other music released through other distributors is affected. While your feat. NATURE track is live with us, we are the only distributor who can deliver it to DSPs (plus standard DSP takedown processing time if you remove it).
We ask for this exclusivity to protect the integrity of the project and avoid any perception of greenwashing, ensuring that when fans see NATURE featured on a track, they know it’s part of the genuine Sounds Right initiative.
Sounds Right requests a 12-month minimum exclusivity period for all participating tracks. Each track must remain exclusive to the platform for 12 months, even if a removal request is submitted earlier. After this period, tracks may be withdrawn or transferred freely.
Royalties are collected by DistroDirect, who deducts their 5% admin fee, then splits the remaining 50% to NATURE / 50% to you. You can withdraw your share directly from your Sounds Right account once your balance is over AU$10.
Streaming platforms don’t pay in real time. Most major DSPs (like Spotify and Apple Music) send royalties to distributors about 45–90 days after the end of the month in which the streams occur. Once funds are received, they are paid out according to royalty splits.
Yes please! Multiple singles, EPs, or albums can be released through the programme, provided each track features natural sounds and meets our eligibility criteria for feat. NATURE tracks. Thanks for your interest in such a comprehensive collaboration with NATURE.
